Accessing data on the Open Government portal

This resource article will walk you through the process of how to get to opencanada.ca from the CanadaBuys website so that you can access tender notice and contract history data reports.

Step 1

Scroll down to the CanadaBuys Links section at the bottom of any page on the website and click the “Open procurement data” link in the last row of the first column of links. You can also access opencanada.ca directly by copying its URL (https://open.canada.ca/en/open-data) into the address bar of your internet browser.

Step 2

After either clicking the link from the CanadaBuys Links section or typing the URL manually, the Open Data page is displayed. On this page you will find the available reports in the Open Government Portal. To search for a data report, enter its title in the search bar on the left side of the page, and click “Find.” For example, you can search for the tender notices or contract history data reports.

Step 3

The Open Government Portal search results page is displayed. Find the data report you are looking for and click its title to view the report page.

Step 4

After clicking on the title of the data report you are looking for, the record page is displayed. Scroll to the Data and resources table, where you will find a list of data reports. Click the “Download” button next to a data report and you can download and save the file locally.
