The equipment is required by programs involved in studies: conducting soil, crop and environmental research to enhance adaptation to climate change, improve soil and water quality, improve efficiency of fertilizer and manure utilization, develop year round cropping and investigate whole farm cropping systems. A new hydraulic soil sampler with offset the requirement for physically demanding hand core soil sampling at the Centre helping to reduce the amount of labour required each year to perform this work and reducing the injuries associated with this labour intensive, physically demanding task.
