Parks Canada Agency (PCA) has a requirement for the provision of Construction Work for Civil Engineering services at Bruce Peninsula National Park. The project is to recapitalize the access road from Cyprus Reception to the Parking Lot 1 (P1), the main access point to BPNPs busiest visitor node, the Grotto (150K visitors annually). Cyprus Lake Road is approximately 6.5km in length. The section of roadway is 1.3 km long and accesses the primary parking lot for the Georgian Bay Trail to the Grotto, the campgrounds, including three group sites. The road has steep drop-offs in some areas, minimal shouldering, and an inconsistent road width. The roadway travels through a wetland area that breaches the road surface (due to beaver caused flooding) and has caused extensive structural damage to it. Tree stumps line the edge of the roadway and many trees are directly adjacent. During the winter months, this roadway currently serves as a portion of Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail, limiting winter access to the P1 and the Georgian Bay shoreline; however, moving forward this trail will be relocated. Work covered under this project including (but not limited to): • Clearing and grubbing; • Removal & Disposal of existing tar & chip / asphalt surface. • Removal of hazards from within 1.8m of the proposed edge of asphalt; • Provision of fill / or excavation (as required) to provide safer side slopes from Cyprus Lake Road; • Provision of 5.5m asphalt surface and 0.6m shoulders. • Placement of 150mm of Granular ‘A’ for the road base. • Installation of Trail Crossings; • Replacement of culverts including the provision of new animal guards; • Provision of a beaver control structure in a wetland; • Provision of New Signs; and • Provision of Pavement Markings; For additional detail see the attachment Robins Consulting Inc. 2015. Proponents shall be licensed to practice in the province of Ontario. OPTIONAL SITE VISIT: There will be a site visit on August 20, 2015 at 11:00am.
