The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has a requirement to purchase LabSTAF Portable Phytoplankton Productivity System. The system is deemed to be the only system that meets the requirements of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada due to its size (portable) so it can be used in the field on small vessels and large ships. The LabStaf System also provides rapid, continuous measures for active fluorometry, fluorescence light curve, and estimates of primary productivity for use on ships with flow-through sampling. Finally, the system is designed to allow direct comparison to radioactive 14C methods currently used by DFO via dual incubation method.
