Description
Are you a Contractor interested in working with Alberta Forestry and Parks’ (FP) Wildfire Compliance and Investigation Unit for the 2024-2026 wildfire seasons? Contracts for wildfire investigation services are now available for the upcoming wildfire seasons, which run from March 1 to October 31 annually. The following will provide you with general information on the terms, conditions, and requirements of Departmental Contracts. The Forestry Division, which is responsible for the investigation of wildfires within the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta, requires contracted wildfire investigators to conduct wildfire investigations, assist with wildfire investigations, assist in providing training related to investigations, and assist in field research projects. Contracted investigators should possess training and experience in wildfire origin and cause determination, as well as investigation skills such as interviewing and evidence collection. There is no guarantee of work under the terms of the wildfire investigations services Contract. Contractors will be hired on an as-needed basis, based on the specific requirements of an investigation. The Contractor shall provide experienced staff, fully equipped with all necessary equipment and supplies. They may be required to travel throughout the province on short notice. Any staff provided by the Contractor shall have a certificate of completion of for the FI-210 Wildfire Origin and Cause Determination Course. In addition to the required training, the Contractor’s staff must have at least five (5) years in wildland, or structural, fire investigation. With approval from the Province, Contractor staff without FI-210 training may accompany trained staff on investigations in order to gain experience. Upon completion of FI-210 training, they will be paid the standard rate. Contractors will be required to complete the Wildfire Orientation Course online before working on an active wildfire. In some circumstances, contractors will be required to hold a COR/SECOR to be eligible to work on certain wildfires.

The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/04/01.
