Description
The City is seeking the services of a qualified multi-disciplinary team, led by an engineering firm, to provide engineering and architectural services for the MAX Purple East Extension.
The design work to extend the MAX Purple/17 Avenue East Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is comprised of bus only lanes, queue jumps, and mobility improvements, among others, that will directly improve the customer experience in all Categories (travel time, reliability, comfort, and convenience).
This investment will provide further infrastructure necessary for the new community of Belvedere to continue growing. Additional funding is to be requested in the 2027-2030 service plans and budgets to implement the MAX Purple BRT from Hubalta to 84th Street S.E.
The MAX Purple East Extension along 17 Ave SE from Hubalta Rd SE to 116 ST NE and beyond is envisioned to take place over three major stages listed below:
1. Stage 1: Hubalta Rd SE to 84 ST SE, including a BRT terminal on 84 ST NE;
2. Stage 2: 84 ST SE to 116 ST NE; and
3. Stage 3: 116 ST NE and beyond.
Stage 1: Hubalta Rd SE to 84 ST SE

• Phase 2: Construction Contract Administration Services (currently unfunded)
• Phase 3: Post-Construction Contract Administration Services (currently unfunded)
Stage 2: 84 ST SE to 116 ST NE (currently unfunded)

• Phase 3: Post-Construction Contract Administration Services
Stage 3: Service between Calgary (116 ST NE) and the city of Chestermere (currently unfunded)
• Phase 1: Detailed Design
• Phase 2: Construction Contract Administration Services
• Phase 3: Post-Construction Contract Administration Services
The initial award under this RFP is for Stage I: Hubalta Rd SE to 84 ST SE only. The award of subsequent stages is contingent upon the Consultant's performance, availability of additional budget, and necessary approvals. Details on the services required for these stages will be confirmed upon availability of funds.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 19 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2025/12/01.
