Town of Sundre - Request for Expression of Interest - Central Alberta Rural Health Campus

The Town of Sundre, Mountain View County, and neighboring areas are expected to see continued growth withing the Sundre Region. Addressing the need for health services will continue to be a high-level requirement of the region. The Town of Sundre’s Myron Thompson Health Centre in Sundre is no longer able to fulfil the health needs of the region. A new community health facility is needed in the Town of Sundre to serve as a centralized location for health and emergency services as well as in Mountain View County and neighboring areas. With this new facility there is an opportunity for a new service delivery model that would improve primary care, provide numerous services that the community requires, improve access and waiting times, while efficiently utilizing resources, potentially become a catalyst for economic development as well as serve as a rural training centre that would specialize in the training of rural health practitioners. The vision of this new development is based on a similar successful project for the town of Beaverlodge in 2023 where the town, and a development group formed a limited partnership to negotiate a lease with Alberta Health services to replace the existing Hospital, EMS center and Health services building into one integrated space. The Preferred Partner(s) (PP) is open to suggest replacement of the Sundre facility at its current site or to provide a different site that may be more suitable for the development. Options could include land swaps with the Government of Alberta or the Town of Sundre. These land transactions may or may not form a component of the equity provided to the joint venture.
