Description
The City of Abbotsford is issuing a Notice of Planned Procurement to advise potential Suppliers that the City plans to conduct a procurement process for professional services to complete the design services of the Abbotsford Recreation Centre Heating System Integration and Optimization Project.
The Abbotsford Recreation Center (ARC) located at 2499 McMillan Rd, Abbotsford, BC currently consists of three function areas: an aquatic centre, an ice arena, and a community centre. Each functional area contains an independent heating and cooling system. An energy audit of the building has identified significant opportunity for energy efficiency improvements and greenhouse gas emission reduction through localized heat recovery, integration of heating systems, and overall system optimization.
The successful Proponent will investigate the existing ARC facility conditions and produce a preliminary design and cost estimate for discussion with the City’s project team. Upon approval, the project will proceed in stages to detailed design, tendering, construction, commissioning and optimization, and project closeout.
The project will be completed within a complex environment requiring consideration of design objectives, constructability, ongoing operation of facility, and capital renewal of facility equipment. The City intends close collaboration between the successful Proponent, Contractor, and City project team to achieve project successes.
