In accordance with applicable trade agreements PHSA, as agent for the Health Authority(s) has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason:
- the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reason:
- due to an absence of competition for technical reasons.
- The Children’s and Women’s Hospital is currently looking for a second platform for critical infections diagnosis. The Quiastat is the only other Health Canada approved platform aside from the Biofire System already owned and in use by the site. Having a second assay that can provide rapid diagnosis for the same syndromes/pathogens minimizes the risk of not being able to provide these critical services in the event of a consumable supply disruption for the current platform.
