Description
Through this Request for Proposals, the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary invites Proposals from qualified Respondents to design, supply and install
new boardwalk and viewing platform equipment at Christina Lake. Substantial Completion must be achieved no later than June 30th of 2023. The successful proponent will be responsible for supplying full design and construction services for this project. This will include but not be limited to the following:
(a) Rough grading of the site as required for the dock installation.
(b) Two 2.5m x 7.3m aluminum/composite platforms
(c) One 6.1m x 6.1m aluminum/composite platform with a supporting aluminum frame
(d) Four steel piles holding the platforms in place.
(e) Non-skid composite decking panels supplied by ThruFlow™, allowing 43% sunlight
penetration, with a base material must be of reinforced virgin polypropylene.
(f) Top quality PVC-encapsulated dock floats fastened to four piles around the platforms,
fastening the dock in place with pile stirrups.
(g) An aluminum ramp with handrails to be fastened with a metal T-bracket to the top of the
abutment. The ramp must be removable during the winter months.
(h) A 2.75m x 2.75m abutment to be constructed at the edge of the shoreline above the highwater
mark, supported by seven 152mm x 152mm (6” x 6”) pressure treated wood posts
set in concrete approximately 300mm in diameter running 1,800mm into the ground.
(i) An area not exceeding 1m in diameter around the abutment will be excavated for
construction and backfilled afterward.
(j) A layer of crushed gravel will be laid on top of the backfilled earth supporting a concrete
platform which will form the top of the abutment.
(k) Design must meet or exceed CAN/CSA-B651 Accessible Design for the Built
Environment
(l) The equipment and design shall match as closely as possible with the proposed
Preliminary Design, found in Annex C.
This RFP document sets-out: the Scope of Work required; the process for submission, evaluation and award of the Contract; the terms and conditions of the Contract; plus forms which outline the information a Respondent to this RFP should submit in their Proposal.
