Description
This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for:
1. Architectural firms as Prime/Managing Consultant,
2. Electrical Engineering,
3. Mechanical Engineering,
4. Structural Engineering,
This RFP is for individual consultant firms; it is not for consultant teams. Island Health will engage each of the consultants separately. The Rehabilitation (Rehab) Building at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is currently supplied chilled water by a single 200 ton chiller, as well as some additional chilled water from the hospital’s central plant. Over the life of this chiller, the peak cooling loads of the Rehab building have increased, which necessitates adding additional cooling capacity to this building. Also, the existing chiller is over 25 years old and is end of life. This project will replace the existing 200 ton chiller with a new high efficiency chiller of high cooling capacity. This RFP will procure consultants to assist with the design, procurement and construction contract administration of this replacement. This project will be procured through two separate procurements, with the first procurement covering for the chiller and other long lead time equipment, and the second covering the installation on site. An optimization study of the NRGH chiller plant and chilled water system was completed in January 2018 and has been included here for your reference. Refer to the attachment “vii. NRGH Chiller Plant & Chilled Water System Optimization Study”.
