Description
The District invites detailed Proposals from engineering consulting firms (“Proponents”) with expertise in coastal engineering and flood hazard modelling for the provision of the following items for the project area:
The District’s existing coastal flood hazard maps were based on still water elevations. Waves are known to impact flood and erosion risks to waterfront lands and development. Coastal flood hazards in the project area can be managed primarily through development guidance and regulation for individual properties. The purpose of this project is to develop coastal flood hazard maps that include wave effects. These maps will become a reference document for qualified professionals to establish, or assist in establishing, site-specific Flood Construction Levels (FCLs) and setbacks to help ensure the risks associated with coastal flooding and erosion are mitigated in the design and construction of new development. The maps may also support future adaptation planning related to Cates Park/Whey-ah-Wichen and other waterfront parks in the area.
Proponents interested in this opportunity are invited to submit a Proposal.
