    Title: Orchard Building Modifications, Summerland Research and Development Centre

    Description:

    The AAFC Summerland Research and Development Centre has an existing screenhouse that is used for research on plant virus genetic resources. This screenhouse currently does not meet the requirements of CFIA for certification. A building modification tender package has been developed to bring the building in line with the requirements. A contractor will perform all work indicated on the drawings and specifications including, but not limited to:
    • Removal of portions of the existing concrete floor, excavation of subgrade to allow for installation of new trench drains and plumbing.
    • Installation of pit floor and walls on in-situ soils.
    • Cleaning of existing concrete floor and application of bonding adhesive.
    • Installation of concrete topping with reinforcement, poured monolithically with drainage trench.
    • Installation of joint sealant between concrete topping and concrete upstands
    • Installation of epoxy on floor and concrete upstands
    • Reframing of all doors, utilizing existing lintels and replacing jack studs to accommodate new door height due to concrete topping.
    • Installation of sanitary piping to exterior pits, infiltration piping system and valves
    • Installation of electric floor heating systems, fans and associated ducting and filters.
    • Installation of water piping through walls
    • Start-up, commissioning, and training of all systems installed.

    Basis of selection:

    This is a two phase selection process. Bidders responding to this ITT are to submit a bid in two phases. Phase One bids cover only the qualifications and experience of the Bidders, refer to SI05 ‘Submission of Bid’. Following evaluation of Phase One bids, Bidders are advised of their competitive standing and responsive Phase One Bidders will be invited to submit a Phase Two bid. Phase Two bids cover the pricing. A combination of the Phase One and Phase Two submissions constitutes the final bid.

    Initially, suppliers are invited to submit bids in the first phase of the selection procedure. Only the Phase One information asked for in the ITT is to be included in Phase One bids, and evaluation of Phase One bids will be carried out only on the Phase One information requested.
    Construction Time: The Contractor must perform and complete the Work by March 31, 2025.
    Canada retains the right to negotiate with any supplier on any procurement.
