    Description
McMaster University has a requirement for functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and physiology measurement hardware and associated data analysis software for the “Lab for Innovative Neurophysiological Study of Leadership”. The physiology measurement hardware must be able to capture pulse oximetry (PPG), heart rate, heart-rate variability (HRV), oxygen saturation (SpO2), respiration, temperature, galvanic skin response (GSR), and bipolar signals such as EMG and ECG. The fNIRS and physiology measurement hardware must be portable (i.e., data acquisition without being connected to a computer or power source) and be able to control for movement artifacts. The hardware must offer both real-time wireless data transfer as well as hard storage on the hardware itself. To meet McMaster’s needs, the fNIRS and physiology measurement hardware must be capable of simultaneous measurement of one participant with the data streams synchronized, and this in turn must be able to simultaneously synchronize with the combined measurement of fNIRS and physiology measurement across four (4) participants (i.e., hyper-scanning). The accompanying data analysis software must require no programming knowledge and use a GUI to analyze GLM, multi-subject analysis, and 2D and 3D visualization. The system will be used to evaluate the subconscious influences of neurophysiological synchrony across a team on leadership efficacy and team performance.
