Description
This Request for Prequalification (“RFPQ”) is an invitation by The Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains (the “Town”) to prospective Respondents to qualify for eligibility to become the General Contractor for Craigleith Fire Station Construction as further described in Section A of the RFPQ Particulars.
Respondents who are successfully pre-qualified through this process will be offered an opportunity to bid on the construction services for the new facility and, if successful as a result of the bidding process, shall be expected to enter into a CCDC 2-2020 Stipulated Price contract and to support overall project goals.
The scope of this project involves the construction of a new 1,600 m2 one-storey fire station building with a 200 m2 mezzanine, constructed of a wood structure throughout, utilizing low-carbon components and finishes wherever possible to meet the Town’s objective of a Net Zero Emissions Building. Construction will be on a greenfield site, located in The Blue Mountains, Ontario. This facility will replace the existing Fire Station 2 in order to better serve the current and future populations in the Town. The building will be divided into two main areas; the administration/crew quarters or “cold side” and the apparatus bay or “hot side”. The cold side contains offices, a meeting room, training area, dormitory spaces and amenities. The hot side has vehicle storage space for up to six fire trucks, as well as support spaces for gear, SCBA and hose reel.
Public parking is provided near the main entrance, while firefighter parking is provided with access to the hot side as well as near the entrance to the dormitory side of the building.
Also situated on the north side of the site is a 4,500 m2 fire training area for vehicle extraction training.
The Town of The Blue Mountains is Canada’s second fastest growing municipality and serves as home to over 9,300 full-time residents, with an extensive part-time and seasonal population. Recognized as Ontario’s true four-season tourism and recreation destination, The Blue Mountains welcomes an additional 2.5 million visitors annually and offers a high-quality lifestyle that caters to families looking to build a solid foundation, adventurers looking to go off the beaten path and relaxation seekers taking in and experiencing the very best the area has to offer.
