Description
The primary purpose for provision of a surf guard service for Prince Edward Island National Park is to ensure the safety of persons utilizing designated, marked swimming areas along the north shore of the Park. This is carried out by maintaining a safe beach and swimming area and by using specialized lifesaving skills and equipment in emergency situations. This includes monitoring beach users and swimmers, advising them of surf conditions, reporting daily surf conditions to visitors, and park personnel in addition to advising visitors of various National Park and Provincial regulations and policies relating to use of the beach areas.
