    Description
    Transport Canada wishes to award a general contract for Medical Advisors to Civil Aviation.  The attached lists of medical doctors will be required in the Prairie & Northern, Pacific, Quebec, Ontario and National Capital Regions. If necessary, they will also be required to travel overseas as representatives of Transport Canada, Civil Aviation.
    
    Requirement
    
    This document is a call for medical advisors in various specialty fields of medicine related to the aeromedical certification of pilots and air traffic controllers.  
    
    Scope of Work
    
    The scope of this contract will be confined to tasks listed below.  Travel expenses to be paid as deemed necessary on a case-to-case basis.
    
    Background Information - Civil Aviation Medicine
    
    The Civil Aviation Medicine Branch (CAM) of Transport Canada is responsible for all aspects of aviation health and advises on many issues in aviation safety.  This includes the assessment of health hazards and medical fitness of civilian aircrew, development of medical standards, education and training for aircrew and Civil Aviation Medical Examiners (CAMEs).  In addition CAM is working with the RCAF on the development of postgraduate training and certification of aerospace medicine specialists in Canada.
    
    From time to time, we may be called upon by other Branches to review their medical procedures, and also to advise and recommend on other issues related to a medical certification program similar to CAM’s.  The doctors requested to provide this work would be contracted from the ACAN list.
    
    In addition, CAM is involved in national and international aero-medical research.  To ensure that CAM meets its mandate, it is required to contract with various medical specialists.
