Description
SOLICITATION NUMBER: 5P300-17-5088
TITLE: Headquarters Raw Water Transmission Main Replacement Terra Nova National Park
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Terra Nova – Headquarters Raw Water Transmission Main Replacement Project includes the installation of over 3,300m of 200mm polyvinyl chloride (PVC) raw water transmission main between Rocky Pond and the Water Treatment Plant, within the Newman Sound Campground off of Hwy 1 (Trans-Canada Highway, TCH) in Terra Nova National Park (TNNP). The original main was installed in the 1960s and after many decades of use, requires replacement to ensure continued service to the visitors of the park. Parks Canada wishes to have as little disturbance to the park as possible and plans to abandon and leave in place the current 200mm asbestos cement pipe once the new PVC pipe is installed and commissioned. Project activities will include, but are not limited to: excavation, trenching, directional drilling, and installation of a new PVC water main.
