    Description

    Le plan d’action de Transports Canada sur la distraction au volant prévoit l’élaboration et la distribution de matériel de formation des conducteurs de véhicules utilitaires, ainsi que la mise en place de directives à l’intention des gestionnaires de compagnies de transport. Le rapport intitulé Les facteurs humains dans l’industrie du transport routier au Canada offre le rationnel de cette démarche en s’appuyant sur une revue de littérature exhaustive. Ce projet sera donc lié à ce rapport à différentes étapes.

    Les études sur les causes des collisions routières utilisent habituellement la classification suivante : erreurs de reconnaissance, erreurs de prise de décision, erreurs de performance et erreurs de non-performance. Les résultats de ces études, notamment de celles qui évaluent les collisions dans l’industrie des transports routiers, indiquent que les erreurs liées à la reconnaissance et à la décision tendent à être les principales causes des collisions. Les erreurs de reconnaissance sont liées à la réception de l’information par le conducteur, ce qui comprend principalement des processus de perception et d’attention. Les problèmes d’attention, dits aussi d’inattention, peuvent résulter de l’hypovigilance causée soit par la fatigue, soit par la distraction au volant, dans un paradigme de double tâche. Ce projet porte essentiellement sur ces problèmes et met l’accent sur les interventions axées sur le conducteur afin d’atténuer la distraction au volant dans l’industrie des transporteurs routiers au Canada.

    Voici les objectifs du projet :

    • Élaborer du matériel de formation des conducteurs de véhicules utilitaires dans le but de réduire la distraction au volant;
    • Élaborer des directives sur la gestion des compagnies de transport pour aider les transporteurs routiers à atténuer la distraction au volant;
    • Élaborer une stratégie de promotion et de diffusion de ce matériel pour optimiser la pénétration de l’industrie.
