Stairs Rehabilitation – Regina, SK

Description:

The intent of this project is to replace the exterior stairs of the AB Perry building on the east side. The stairs will require complete removal and rebuild due to deteriorating concrete and code deficiencies. The stairs were part of the original construction and are used on a year round basis. Various products have been used to remove ice in the winter and keep the stairs clear of water, snow and ice, and over time has deteriorated original stairs. The exterior stairs were constructed using cast in place concrete and then the stairs were covered in terra-cotta style tiles. Stone wing walls flank the stairs. Steel handrails were added to the wing walls in 1986. Construction will consist of removing the stair system from the sub-structure and installing an upgraded stair assembly including concrete piles and foundation suitable to the fascade with granite stair treads designed to include the appropriate color/contrast and measurements to meet the NBC. This option also includes the removal of the hand rails from the stone wing walls and installing new code compliant stainless steel hand rails directly onto the stairs.

The Contractor must perform and complete the Work by March 31st, 2021.

This is a first phase (Phase one) of a two-phase competition: the first phase will pre-qualify bidders based on mandatory requirements as per the attached Request for Qualifications; second phase (Phase two) will invite the qualified bidders to provide a financial bid on the project based on the specifications and drawings. The list of pre-qualified bidders resulting from Phase One will be valid for a period of 60 days upon notification of meeting the mandatory requirements or upon award of contract in Phase Two whichever comes first.
