BACKGROUND
SCH owns a deteriorated ferry turning dolphin that is used by BC Ferries and the structure is at the end of its service life. This contract will be to remove and dispose the turning dolphin. BC Ferries are currently fabricating a new floating turning dolphin which they plan to install starting September 2022. Refer to site photos and additional details located in Appendix B - Reference Documents.
NATURE OF WORK
In general, work consists of removing and disposing a deteriorated ferry turning dolphin. The existing turning dolphin is supported by approximately 51 steel piles, has a steel framed timber fender wall and a concrete topped platform. Any piles that are unable to be fully extracted from the subsurface shall be cut at the mudline. Float reconstruction may be required as per optional item 7.4. Refer to drawings for more details.
