    Request for Information (RFI)
    for the Department of National Defence (DND) for an Application
    Aware Firewall Software Solution
    
    
    Introduction
    
    The Government of Canada is seeking information from Industry
    with respect to a possible product/solution for implementing an
    application-aware firewall technology to provide network border
    security for the Department of National Defence (DND)/ Canadian
    Forces (CF).
    
    Objectives
    
    The purpose of the RFI is to better understand the prospective
    products or solutions on the market. This is neither a call for
    tender nor a Request for Proposal (RFP) and no agreement or
    contract for the procurement of a possible
    product(s)/solution(s) for an application-aware firewall shall
    be awarded as a result of this RFI.
    
    This RFI does not constitute a commitment by the Government. The
    Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of
    this notice or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
    Responders may submit commercial-in-confidence
    documents/information/data which the Government of Canada
    reserves the right to use to assist in preparation of the
    resulting System Requirements Specification (SRS) and RFP for
    the possible product(s)/solution(s) for implementing
    application-aware firewall technology. This RFI is not to be
    considered a commitment to issue a final RFP for this project.
    While Canada makes no future commitment, any and all information
    and data provided will be considered commercially confidential
    and will be treated as such. 
    
    The Government shall not be bound by anything stated in this
    RFI. The Government reserves the right to change, at any time,
    all or any part of its requirements. The Government also
    reserves the right to finalize, or change,  its procurement
    approach as it considers appropriate, either based upon
    information submitted in response to this RFI or for any other
    reason whatsoever.

    The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any
    procurement.
    
    Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
