 considered for the bid solicitation number K8D22-160171/B.

Environment Canada (EC) is interested in acquiring a wind profiler 
radar for research and meteorological observation purposes.

The prime purpose is to study atmospheric winds in orderto monitor meteorological conditions near the Iqaluit airport (65°N). This instrument will complemetn a research network of meteorological instruments at Iqaluit in order to improve weather forecasting and conduct satellite validation. The instrument may also be used for physical field studies of high impact weather in both warm season and cold season environments, as well as to investigate the synergy with Doppler LIDAR wind measurements at Iqaluit and to develop radar applications in Arctic regions.

The wind profiler radar must be securable to prevent damage and theft of the antennas and electronics. The Contractor must be able tosafely install the instrument in a terrain with permafrost (Arctic) and construct a fenced area for this purpose,along with any mounts and cables necessary to secure the radar and its electronics from blizzards and extreme winds. The Contractor must construct a shelter for computer equipment. The dimensions of the shelter and fenced are may vary, depending on thewind profiler radar proposed by the Contractor. It must be large enough to house the computer and supporting electronics.

This procurement is subject to the following Comprehensive Land Claims Agreement: Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. However, this procurement is not reserved under this agreement.

The proposal must include the deliveryof the radar.
