The work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for emergency generator installation at the Search and Rescue facility in Port Au Choix, NL. The generators and associated fuel tanks and transfer switches will be supplied by the Owner and is to be picked-up at DFO’s warehouse in Donavan’s Industrial Park, Mount Pearl, by the successful Contractor and delivered to the site. The successful contractor assumes all responsibility for the loading, delivery and installation of Owner supplied equipment. In general, work under this contract consists of but is not limited to: 1. Installing a new owner supplied emergency generators and associated 72 hour capacity fuel tanks (1 at the garage and 1 at the administration building). The one for the garage will require concrete filled support cribbing. 2. Construction of a new emergency power electrical service trench. Service trench to be completed to match surrounding terrain including provisions for new asphalt where applicable. 3. Construction of a new fenced compound for the emergency generator systems, including concrete pads, chain link fencing and access steps/grating. 4. Modifications to the existing electrical room to accommodate the new work and new automatic transfer switches. This includes new interior walls, new fire rated door with heavy duty stainless steel hardware (style and keying to match existing in building - confirm on site), new concrete paint, new wall paint, etc. MATERIAL SUPPLIED BY CANADA The declared value of the material supplied by Canada for this project is $182,059.90 (HST extra). This amount shall be added to the contract value when determining the amount of insurance required under the Builder's Risk / Installation Floater coverage. Bidders must refer to R2710T GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (GI) (2020-05-28) for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement. FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid or costs to do the work. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. Contractors, bidders or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29.06 - Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid. Obtain prior permission from the Departmental Representative before carrying out such site inspection. All personal visiting the site shall provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE). The PPE shall include as a minimum safety glasses, boots, hard hat, vest and any equipment required by the Province or construction association as protection against COVID -19.
