The first component is the removal of the existing water to air heat pumps in the Clemens Building, and the installation of new geothermal type water to air heat pumps, complete with insulation of all the existing hydronic distribution piping. The second component is the installation of a wastewater heat recovery loop, complete with pumps, heat exchanger, drum filter, and exterior CPVC piping. Insulated schedule 40 steel piping will be routed from the heat exchanger via the underground service trenches and service tunnel from the Taylor Building, and tie into the existing hydronic loop piping in the service tunnel between the Clemens Building and Taylor Building. Mandatory Site Visit: A site visit will be held on March 15, 2017 at 1000 PDST at the Pacific Biological Station, 3190 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC. All interested bidders are asked to meet in the main lobby and to sign-in at the Security desk. The site visit for this project is MANDATORY. The representative of the bidder will be required to sign the Site Visit Attendance Sheet at the site visit. Bids submitted by Bidders who have not signed the attendance sheet will be rejected. Bidders are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Interested bidders are requested to provide their name(s) and company name(s) to the Contracting Authority, Patty Yi (778) 919-2578 or patty.yi@pwgsc.gc.ca by 1430 PDST on March 14, 2017, if you will be attending the site visit. Security Requirements: 1. At bid closing, the Bidder must hold a valid Security Clearance as indicated in section SC01 of the Supplementary Conditions. Failure to comply with this requirement will render the Bid non-compliant and no further consideration will be given to the Bid. 2. The Successful Bidder's personnel, as well as any subcontractor and its personnel, who are required to perform any part of the Work pursuant to the subsequent contract must meet the mandatory security requirement as indicated in section SC01 of the Supplementary Conditions. Individuals who do not have the required level of security will not be allowed on site. It is the responsibility of the successful bidder to ensure that the security requirements are met throughout the performance of the contract. Canada will not be held liable or accountable for any delays or additional costs associated with the successful bidder's non-compliance with the mandatory security requirement.
