    Work Description: 
    The work under this contract is the second phase of the intended Rehabilitation of the Former Territorial Courthouse. 
    
    It is designated a ‘Classified’ Federal Heritage Building, managed by Parks Canada, is a landmark in the Klondike National Historic Site. It was originally constructed in 1901, and subsequently added to and extensively renovated on the interior numerous times. 
    
    The work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 
    1) Architectural & Structural - Main Courthouse
            - Selective demolition of interior and exterior building                 elements, including of shoring and temporary work executed in            Phase 1;
            - Abatement of hazardous materials (vermiculite) in the existing         building soffits only;
            - Structural upgrades to the entire building;
            - Limited building envelope upgrades from interior only;
            - A limited number of existing window and exterior door                 demolitions and enclosures, and new wood windows and exterior            doors;
            - New exterior galvanized metal exit stair, with metal roof over         landing;
            - Limited repair of in-kind to the exterior cladding;
            - Rehabilitation of the existing galvanized metal standing seam          roofs;
            - Full-time Fire Watch when the fire alarm system is disabled,           including for the adjacent Carriage Shed. 
    
    Work will be performed in accordance with the contract schedules within the scope of work. 
    
    Site Visit: 
    Contractors are strongly recommended to visit the site prior to submitting a tender for this work and to make inquiries or investigations necessary to become thoroughly acquainted with the site as well as the nature and extent of the work.
    
    There is an optional site visit scheduled for Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM PDST at the Former Territorial Courthouse located at 301 Front Street, Dawson City, YT.
    
    Please note that there is no taxi service available between the Dawson Airport and Dawson City.  Bidders should pre-register for the site visit by emailing rebecca.taron@pwgsc.gc.ca no later than Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 16:00 PDST. Parks Canada can provide transportation to and from the Dawson Airport and the Dawson City Courthouse, if required.

    The Contractor shall perform and complete the Work within 52 weeks of Contract award.

    To assist with insurance requirements, this project is estimated to cost between $1,800,000 and $1,850,000.
