The Department of National Defence (DND) has a requirement to replace a number of old High Frequency (HF) Audio Systems under the HF Audio Systems Replacement Project. The project consists of the replacement of eight legacy analogue HF Audio systems deployed at six DND stations and two support facilities. The current HF Audio systems are roughly 25 years old, and most of their components are beyond the economic repair cycle. The current systems allow military radio operators to route radio traffic for call handling and dispatching. The radio traffic is routedbetween HF radio receivers & transmitters and operator console equipment or telephone Private Branch Exchange (PBX) lines. The new integrated HF audio systems will modernize, and achieve efficiencies in the baseband signal routing and the systems and the control signal routing by employing internet protocol (IP) routing between stations and sites.
