Ceilometers for Cloud Height Detection

Environment Canada (EC), Aviation Research Group, Cloud Physics
and Severe Weather Research Section requires the supply,
delivery and installation of two (2) highly sensitive
Ceilometers to measure cloud height.  The Ceilometers will
measure ceilings and multiple cloud layers from the ground up to
7.5km above airports. The main goal for these Ceilometers is to
provide data to generate short range forecasts, or nowcasts, for
the aviation industry and as input to automated TAFs (Terminal
Aerodrome Forecasts). The Ceilometer measurements will also be
used to produce nowcasts for sporting events during the 2015 Pan
American games in Toronto.

All the deliverables must be received within 8 weeks of Contract
award.

The Contract will also include an option to purchase a two-day
in-person training session for the installation, maintenance and
software program use of the Ceilometers for up to two (2)
Environment Canada staff.
