1. Purpose and Nature of the Request for Information (RFI)

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is seeking industry feedback regarding medical evaluation and psychological assessment services for the purpose of the National Recruiting Health Services Unit (NRHSU) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).  

The objectives of this RFI are to: 

a) Determine the interest and capability of suppliers to provide services described in this RFI;
b) Provide the industry with the opportunity to assess the RCMP’s requirements and help to develop the technical criteria of the project; and
c) Solicit feedback and recommendations on any issues that would impact a supplier’sability to fulfill the RCMP’s requirements.

2. Background Information

Individuals applying to become a Regular Member of the RCMP must undergo a very thorough health Evaluation. The Applicant must meet specific medical standards for vision,hearing, and colour vision. As well, the Applicant is questioned and examined in order to determine whether or not there exists a physical or mental condition that might compromise the individual’s ability to perform the tasks of police work. 

The NRHSU will be responsible for ensuring that Applicants meet the minimum health standards of police Applicants and are physically and psychologically healthy prior to attending the RCMP training academy in Regina.
