The Wapiti Community Support Association’s Wapiti House provides shelter and supportive services to individuals struggling with homelessness. The first step in helping move toward positive, healthy and lasting change is earning the trust of those who need our support. This is done by being honest, respectful, compassionate and by keeping a non-judgmental approach. The work we do is extremely sensitive and that is why we provide trauma informed care to our clients. This means that we recognize and are responsive to the impact that trauma has on individuals, and we strive to make people at Wapiti House feel physically, psychologically and emotionally safe. Wapiti House is equally committed to both intervention and prevention, so we can provide help for today and hope for tomorrow. Our modern facility, extensive services and compassionate support allow us to help struggling individuals who have a unique blend of needs. Wapiti House offers 24/7/365 shelter services including the shelter cot program which offers overnight and emergency beds, plus an overnight mat intox program for males and females. Wapiti House also offers 37 struggling individuals access to interim supportive suites while they recover and transition back into the community. This is done through intensive case management, life skills training and peer support services. We also partner with AHS to provide additional supports.
