    TITLE
    Experimental netting of spring herring using commercial style gillnets.

    OBJECTIVE
    The purpose of this project is to enhance scientific knowledge of local spring herring populations and their relation to the global southern Gulf of St. Lawrence herring stock. To achieve this goal, one or more contractors will be engaged to provide DFO with an opportunity to survey spring herring fishing grounds.

    AREA OF OPERATION
    The work required for the completion of this project is divided into five (5) regions :

    • Region 1) 16B – Chaleur Bay, North side
    • Region 2) 16B – Chaleur Bay, South side and Miscou
    • Region 3) 16C – Escuminac
    • Region 4) 16E – Cap-Pelé, Cape Jourimain and PEI, South side
    • Region 5) 16E – PEI, North side

    Bidders may make an offer for on or multiple regions. The offers will be evaluated by regions.

    CONTRACTING PERIOD
    Contract award from attribution for approximately 12 Months with options to renew for two (2) additional (1) year period at the sole discretion of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). The Project work will take place between March 15th and July 31st of each year.

    CONDITIONAL SET-ASIDE UNDER THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT STRATEGY FOR INDIGENOUS BUSINESS (PSIB)
    This is an open tender. However, it will be conditionally set-aside under the Government of Canada’s Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business (PSIB) if two or more bids have been received by Indigenous businesses who are certified under the Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business (PSIB) criteria and who may be listed in the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Business Directory.
