ECCC seeks to offset the GHG emissions generated during COP 15 with carbon credits that represent real, additional, quantifiable, verifiable, unique and permanent reductions or removals of GHG emissions. This offsetting is also part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to transition to net-zero carbon operations and protect biodiversity. The Contractor(s) must retire offsets on behalf of ECCC to compensate for the emissions generated by COP 15.

Hosting COP15 resulted in a total of 6,547.86 tCO2 equivalent (CO2-e) emissions. This amount includes all emission sources noted in section 2 (Scope 1, 2 and 3). ECCC seeks to offset 6,547.86tCO2e through the purchase and retirement of carbon offset credits.

This service must be completed by January 31, 2024.
