This contract for remediation cleaning enable Parks Canada to re-establish critical operations such as visitor safety and emergency dispatch by cleaning work spaces infiltrated by smoke and hazardous particulate matter from the out-of-control wildfires in Jasper National Park. The only practicable way to move forward in the available timeframe was under an urgent direct Request for Quotation process. A legitimate objective was applied to allow for deviation from minimum public tendering periods under domestic and international trade agreements. This measure was necessary in order to achieve the legitimate objective, specifically the protection of human, animal, and plant life and health.
