The test frames in the Mechanical Testing and Pipe Lab at CanmetMATERIALS need to be calibrated annually to ensure accuracy and reliability in test operation and data acquisition. The hydraulic oil in the hydraulic power unit which powers the hydraulic test frames need to be checked quarterly to identify the fluid contamination and deterioration that can lead to unexpected downtime and repair cost.
