This contract was awarded to Wesco Distribution Canada LP for the supply, factory testing, packaging, documentation, and delivery of Arctic-rated medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment for the Department of National Defence. The requirement includes two pad-mounted, liquid-filled medium-voltage transformers, T5 rated at 300 kVA and T6 rated at 45 kVA, and one outdoor pad-mounted medium-voltage fusible interrupter switchgear unit, PM2, including required spare parts, technical documentation, safety data sheets, consignment documentation, packaging and labelling.
The equipment is required to support medium-voltage power distribution at Canadian Forces Station Alert, Nunavut, from the Main Station to the Lake Pumphouse and GAW Lab. The contractor is responsible for delivery FOB destination to Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario, where the Department of National Defence will arrange onward airlift to Canadian Forces Station Alert. The equipment must be suitable for Arctic operation, including operation in temperatures as low as -50°C ±10°C and temporary storage down to -60°C, and must comply with applicable CSA, IEEE, NEMA, ASTM and ISO 9001 requirements.
The contract also includes spare parts such as bushings, gaskets, fuses, transformer oil, switchgear components, documentation packages, CARF preparation, crate labelling, freight, permits and insurance to CFB Trenton. A 24-month base warranty is included, with optional extended warranty coverage for years 3 to 5, including warranty administration, OEM coordination, claim intake, troubleshooting support and warranty status reporting.
