This project will determine the performance characteristics of a YANMAR, or equivalent, 5 kWe Gas Engine micro combined heat and power (mCHP) unit with natural gas and natural gas/hydrogen mixtures as the fuel. The performance will be determined under steady state and dynamic operating conditions, using an energy balance to determine the ratio of useful heat delivered as a fraction of energy consumed. Testing will be carried out by CANMETENERGY Alternative Energy Laboratory located at the Bells Corners Complex in Ottawa, Ontario, at the Building 19 Hydrogen Facility.
