The project is to build a new Visitor Education Centre of approximately 695 m2 gross, including an exhibit area of 200 m2. 

The site of the Project, also known as the Vimy site, is a vast area of 117 hectares of battlefield terrain designated a national historic site of Canada in 1996 (Vimy Ridge National Historic Site), situated in the French countryside. Most of the site is conserved battlefield terrain, but there are areas where there has been previous development. The monument, the Tunnels and Trenches, and the cemeteries, are all set within the undulating landscape of the battlefield.
