AAFC requires the services of a Contractor to develop two surveys of farm practices to support models in the reactive nitrogen chain related to NH3 emissions.
The Contractor will also adapt the current NH3 emission models (one model each for fertilizer, beef, swine, dairy, broiler, layer and turkey) to output data in the form and units required by the other Nr models in the N chain as follows.
The Contractor will also supply NH3 model concepts to the unique-in-Canada peri-urban environment of the Lower Fraser Valley (LFV). This will involve adapting an existing model of Phosphorus (P) budget (influx minus efflux) for the LFV which includes both urban and agricultural processes. The vision is that the material transfers for P (food, feed, fertilizer, sewage, manure, live animals, seafood, etc) can also be used to help model transfers for N, with the inclusion of other processes such as NH3 volatilization.
Refer to the description above for full details.
