    ALL CONTRACTORS TO TAKE NOTE THAT NO SITE WORK CAN TAKE PLACE PRIOR TO APRIL 01, 2016 BUT ITEMS SUCH AS REQUIRED PERMITTING SHOULD BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO THIS CONSTRUCTION START DATE.

    The scope of work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment, and material for the construction of a new marginal wharf at Pool’s Cove, NL consisting of a reinforced concrete deck and treated timber cribwork construction. The work will be completed in strict accordance with the specification and accompanying drawings, and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    The project work will consist of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    • Removal of existing armourstone as required for installation of new marginal wharf.
    • Supply and installation of new treated timber crib wharf with timber coping and reinforced concrete deck to dimensions indicated on drawings.
    • Installation of a reinforced concrete slab measuring ±8.10m long by 4.876m wide.
    • Class “B” dredging
    • Removal and reinstatement of existing wooden signs related to MV Northern Seal Ferry Schedule.

    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

    Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29.06 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
