    DELIVERABLES / SCOPE OF WORK

    The scope of work for this project is the provision of construction activities to create a small boat basin as is more specifically described below and in the Drawings and Specifications. The work covered consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for these improvements at Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    • Demolition, removal, and disposal of existing native timber cribwork marginal wharf, concrete launch way and asphalt approach.
    • Removal and storage of eight (8) existing floating docks by Harbour Authority. Contractor is responsible for removal of existing 13mm dia. chain and reinforced concrete anchor blocks and all associated hardware.
    • Dredge entire shaded area to depths as indicated on drawings.
    • Supply and install rock mattress under new cribwork and scour protection as indicated.
    • Construction of a new 3.66m wide treated timber stepped crib marginal wharf, complete with wooden deck, type B1 mooring cleats and untreated hardwood fender system.
    • Construction of new 6.1m wide x 30.0m long launch way.
    • Supply and install rip rap as indicated.
    • Supply and install new asphalt approach complete with granular sub-base.
    • Contractor to reinstall existing eight (8) floating docks as indicated, including all anchor blocks, new 13mm dia. chains, shackles, and new gangway.
    • Supply and install provisions for future site lighting as indicated.
    • FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

      Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

      Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.

      Expected Start and Completion Dates

      The services of the Contractor will be commencing upon award of the contract. The expected completion date of this project is October 31st, 2016.
