Richmond Landing – Ceremonial Landing and Navy Wake

    Ottawa, Ontario

    1. Richmond Landing is a promontory in the Ottawa River bound by the Ottawa shore, Portage Bridge and Victoria Island. The landing is the site of the Royal Canadian Navy Monument, which was constructed in 2012 as a symbolic tribute where Canadians come to commemorate and to celebrate the contributions of the men and women of the Canadian Navy.
    2. The Ceremonial Landing is part of larger initiative to create linkages between Richmond Landing, the Islands, LeBreton Flats, and the shoreline in concurrence with highlighting the significance of this important military landing site in the heart of the Capital.
    3. The Ceremonial Landing is considered as a water entry to the site. The Navy Wake will complete the design of the Navy Monument as this will carry the names of the ships the Navy personnel served on.
    4. The scope of work under this Contract is to implement the work associated with Ceremonial Landing and Navy Wake. The Ceremonial Landing includes pathways, a functional pier, dock and gangway, new vegetation, pathway leading from the pier to the tip of the Richmond Landing and back towards the monument, a stairway also leading from the pier up to the monument, low level lighting with bollards along the pathway and strip lighting along the stairway and gangway. The Navy Wake is a commemorative element, which will identify the names of the ships that the Royal Canadian Navy commissioned since 1910.
    5. All work associated with the pier, dock and gangway is being executed under another contract. The pier was installed in fall 2016. The dock and gangway are currently being fabricated and are required to be installed no later than June 30, 2017. The Contractor will be required to provide access and coordinate a maximum three day window of opportunity for the installation of the dock and gangway. During this three day period, all Contractor activities and operations shall cease.
    6. The supply, fabrication and delivery of the sloped granite slabs and granite pavers for the Navy Wake are being executed under another contract. The granite will be delivered no later than June 1, 2017, which will require a Contractor coordinated effort with the supplier. The Contractor will be required to engage the supplier for the installation of the sloped granite slabs.(ROCK OF AGES CANADA INC)
    7. All work described for this undertaking shall be completed no later than June 30, 2017.
