    The scope of work for this project is the provision of construction activities required to demolish an existing timber pile wharf structure and construct a new treated timber crib wharf, more specifically described below and in the Drawings and Specifications. The work covered consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for these improvements at Codroy, Newfoundland and Labrador, in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    • Demolition, removal, and disposal of existing 61.6m timber pile wharf;
    • Supply and installation of a new 6.1m wide by 48.8m long treated timber crib wharf with reinforced concrete deck, mooring cleats, ladders, fenders, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking and wooden light poles;
    • Supply and installation of new electrical shed all associated wiring and lighting. New shed to be operational prior to decommissioning and removal of existing building and electrical systems;
    • Supply and installation of scour protection;
    • Supply and installation of rock and gravel fill, shoreline rip rap for uplands development as indicated; and
    • Supply and install new asphalt complete with granular sub-base as indicated.

      FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

      Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

      Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
