This project is to be carried out at the site of Edmonds Lock 25, Weir, and Overflow Dam. The intention is to carry out the work in two phases, split between the off-season of 2017/18 and the off-season of 2018/19. The first phase is smaller in scope, and focuses on the upstream end of the Lock. It does not require a cofferdam or in-water work. Masonry work in this phase includes cleaning, shallow raking out and repointing, and stone repair and replacement. Cleaning and hot-dip galvanizing of two existing steel frames is also included in this phase. The second phase is larger in scope, and focuses on the Weir. In-water work and construction of temporary cofferdams is required. Masonry work in this phase includes cleaning, deep raking out and repointing, extensive stone repair and replacement, and grouting. Other work includes excavation and backfilling; structural steel supply, fabrication, and installation; and concrete repair. Refer to the contract documents for a full description of the work.
Between phases 1 and 2, the site will be open to the public, for the 2018 season. After each phase, the Contractor will be required to demobilize, perform a full clean-up and restore the site to original condition. The Contractor is also responsible for installing temporary roads onsite, to access the work areas; including a temporary bridge across the lock, to access the phase 2 work area. The temporary bridge will be supplied by Parks Canada, to be transported to the site by the Contractor from the storage area. The Contractor will be required to provide engineering services for the temporary works.
