DELIVERABLES / SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for this project is the provision of construction activities to construct a new marginal wharf at Port De Grave, NL, as is more specifically described below and in the Drawings and Specifications, subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.
In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:
1 Removal of existing uplands asphalt, concrete slab-on-grade, stones and any other items as required to facilitate new work, as indicated on the drawings.
2 Removal of a section of the fenders, coping, wheelguard and wheelguard blocking from the existing marginal and finger pier to facilitate tie-in of the new wharf, as shown on the drawings.
3 Disconnect, temporarily remove, reinstate, and extend existing service lines, including fresh and saltwater lines, and any other items designated on the drawings.
4 Construction of a new treated timber crib marginal wharf with reinforced concrete deck and slab-on-grade, to dimensions as indicated on the drawings. Cribs may have to be scribed to bedrock and/or placed on rock mattress, as shown on the drawings.
5 Installation of new rock scour protection along perimeter of new wharf, as shown on the drawings.
6 Cribseat excavation, including rock removal, to facilitate placement of the new marginal wharf (and rock mattress where required), as shown on the drawings.
7 Installation of new reinforced slab-on-grade adjacent to the existing finger pier, as shown on the drawings.
8 Installation of new rock fill, granulars, and asphalt, as shown on the drawings.
9 Installation of new protection bollards, as indicated on the drawings.
10 Installation of new catch basins complete with storm sewer pipe extending out through the new marginal wharf.
11 New electrical site upgrades as shown on the electrical drawings.
12 New mechanical site upgrades as shown on the mechanical drawings.
FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE
Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
EXPECTED START AND COMPLETION DATES
The services of the Contractor will be commencing upon contract award. The expected completion date of this project is 16 weeks after contract award.
