   mailing address indicated above whether the bid submission is sent via Location #1 or Location #2.

    

   DELIVERABLES / SCOPE OF WORK

   The scope of work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment, and material for canal wall repairs at Calvert, NL. The work will be completed in strict accordance with the specification and accompanying drawings, and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

   The project work will consist of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

• Construction of treated timber cribwork behind sections of the existing concrete canal wall, top cribwork with imported armour stone.
• Removal and reinstallation of the existing armour and addition of new as required. Existing rock can be re-used in the new work, if meeting the size requirements noted in the documents. Any excess rock is to be removed from site.
• Supply and installation of rock/gravel fill and granulars, as noted on the drawings.
• Concrete rehabilitation of sections of existing canal wall.
• Removal and replacement of various site features including, but not limited to waste oil tank, bollards and signs to accommodate construction and reinstallation prior to project completion.
• Removal and disposal of all construction debris from channel and other work areas prior to demobilizing.
• Removal of existing concrete pad to accommodate construction. Submit shoring and bracing plan stamped and signed by a professional engineer registered to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador to Departmental Representative for review.
• Removal and replacement of existing ladder on concrete canal wall.
• Supply and installation of new signage including post and mounting hardware.

FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.

EXPECTED START AND COMPLETION DATES

The services of the Contractor will be commencing upon contract award. The expected completion date of this project is October 31, 2018

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

• The minimum acceptable amount of Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance is $2,000,000.00 per occurrence. All tenders must be accompanied by confirmation from the tenderer’s insurance company that the required insurance will be available upon contract award;
