SCOPE OF WORK / DELIVERABLES:
Work of this Contract comprises the general construction of canopies at the Kitimat Hatchery Standby Residence
Fisheries and Oceans Canada is calling for tenders for construction services to add two buildings to the residence building of the Kitimat Hatchery Waiting Team. The existing building is a modular construction to insulated panels, supported on foundation soles mounted on the surface. The buildings are both metal roof and concrete. The construction work of the building is a new allied concrete construction with construction of fiberglass around the base of the building.
Objectives of the contract:
Newcomers must protect the entrances of the building against snow, and allow free access to the building all year round.
Background, assumptions and specific scope of the contract
The Kitimat Hatchery is a salmonid enhancement site by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, near Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.
The team's on-call residence is available to DFO staff, on a seasonal or temporary basis, to operate or maintain the hatchery. Currently, heavy snowfall often blocked access to this residence. The awning is to make the building accessible without significant snow removal.
The foundations of the building are soles mounted on the surface. It must be ensured that new construction work does not damage the existing soles mounted on that surfaces.
