Vehicle Tires Compliance of Components and Equipment.

Transport Canada - Motor Vehicle Safety Directorate (TC – MVSD) monitors the industry’s self-certification with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act and its Regulations to ensure compliance.

In order to carry out MVSD mandate to monitor the industry’s self-certification, the TC - Compliance Engineering, Vehicle and Equipment Testing Division (TC - CEVETD) does the following:

• Selects and purchases representative tires off the shelves for comprehensive inspection and testing;
• Plans, implements and coordinates testing of selected tires; and
• Conducts investigations as required ensuring full compliance with all safety performance requirements.

Compliance enforcement tests are conducted at government or independent laboratories having specialized testing facilities and processing the technical expertise required for such testing services. 

This requirement is to seek a facility that is able to conduct the services of Compliance Testing of Tires on and “As and When” Required Basis for the following tasks:

• Task 1 – Independent Compliance Testing

  Carry-out independent compliance testing on selected tires in accordance with specified requirements of the Motor Vehicle Tire Safety Regulations (MVTSR), within specifications provided by the TC - CEVETD; and

• Task 2 – Testing Services and Test Data

  Provide the TC - CEVETD with testing services and test data in order to verify the compliance of representative tires with specified requirements of the current MVTSR.
