    Description

    This contract was awarded to:

    The scope of work for this project consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for the partial reconstruction of an existing wharf at Newtown, NL, in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    .1 Demolition and removal of a section of the existing wharf cribwork, as shown on the drawings.

    .2 Demolition and removal of a section of the existing wharf concrete deck, as shown on the drawings.

    .3 Removal of existing uplands asphalt and granulars, as indicated on the drawings.

    .4 Disconnect and remove existing active electrical conduits, as shown on the drawings. Existing conductors to be pulled back, identified and temporarily stored until reconnected in new work.

    .5 Reconstruction of the demolished section of wharf cribwork with new cribwork and a 250mm thick reinforced concrete deck, as detailed on the drawings. Cribwork may have to be scribed to hard bottom/bedrock, as shown on the drawings.

    .6 Reconstruction of the demolished section of wharf concrete deck with a new +/- 150mm thick reinforced concrete deck over existing cribwork, as detailed on the drawings.

    .7 Cribseat excavation to facilitate placement of new cribwork and to ensure new cribs are seated on hard bottom/bedrock.

    .8 Installation of new treated and untreated dimensional timber as indicated on the drawings.

    .9 Installation of new reinforced concrete jib crane base, as detailed on the drawings. Existing jib crane to be reinstalled and reconnected to existing electrical conductors.

    .10 Reconnect to existing remaining electrical conduit with new conduits, as noted on the drawings. Reinstall all existing electrical conductors as per existing site conditions.

    .11 New uplands work, including installation of rock fill, granulars and asphalt, as indicated on the drawings.

    .12 It is a requirement of this project that the contractor install a floating silt curtain at the commencement of construction.

    .13 Sampling and testing of creosote timbers, as outlined in Section 02 41 16 – Sitework, Demolition and Removal.

    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

    Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid
