    This contract was awarded to:

    Exploits Welding & Machine Shop

    The scope of work for this project consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for the repairs to the existing wharves located at La Scie, NL, in strict accordance with the specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    .1 Work Area #1 (as defined on the drawings):

    .1 Complete removal and replacement of the existing wheelguard and wheelguard blocking with new, as indicated on the drawings within in each Section identified.

    .2 Complete removal and replacement of the existing horizontal and vertical fenders with new, as indicated on the drawings within in each Section identified.

    .3 Complete removal and replacement of the existing ladders with new, as indicated on the drawings within in each Section identified. In addition to the existing ladder replacement, new ladder locations are also added, as indicated on the drawings.

    .4 An allowance has been made to replace existing deteriorated coping with new, within the Sections identified. Complete removal of existing coping pieces and installation of new coping, as detailed on the drawings, within areas approved by the Departmental Representative.

    .5 Temporarily remove/relocate the existing waterline and electrical teck cable, as required, and reinstall in new work, as noted on the drawings. If either of the electrical or waterline(s) have to be disconnected during construction activities, contractor will be required to provide and maintain temporary electrical power and water to the affected areas.

    .6 Temporarily remove/relocate existing miscellaneous items, as required, and reinstall in new work, as noted on the drawings. Items include, but not necessarily limited to, sign and posts, life ring frame, and tire bumpers.

    .2 Work Area #2 (as defined on the drawings):

    .1 Complete removal and replacement of the existing top horizontal fenders with new, as indicated on the drawings within in each Section identified. Bottom horizontal fender to remain.

    .2 Install new vertical fenders where existing are missing and/or significantly split, as indicated on the drawings, within in each Section identified. Complete removal of the existing split timbers will be required.

    .3 Complete removal and replacement of the existing ladders with new, as indicated on the drawings within in each Section identified.

    .4 Completed removal and replacement of the existing plywood electrical chase with new, as indicated on the drawings, within the Section identified.

    .5 Temporarily remove/relocate the existing waterline and electrical conduits, as required, and reinstall in new work, as noted on the drawings. If either of the electrical or waterline(s) have to be disconnected during construction activities, contractor will be required to provide and maintain temporary electrical power and water to the affected areas.

    .6 Temporarily remove/relocate existing miscellaneous items, as required, and reinstall in new work, as noted on the drawings.

    .3 It is a requirement of this project that the contractor must finish each Section identified, within each Work Area, prior to proceeding with work on the next Section. Upon completion of each section, obtain Departmental Representative’s approval, prior to proceeding.

    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

    Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
