The purpose of this Contract is to conduct the winter mechanical management (defined as the rolling and/or mowing of Phragmites that has been treated by herbicide, followed by prescribed burns if appropriate and approved) of up to 250 ha of non-native Phragmites within the Big Creek NWA and Thoroughfare Unit of the Long Point NWA. Winter management will be conducted between November and March, as conditions permit, using a Marsh Master or similar vehicle with a roller or mowing attachment.
The scope of work for this contract includes the following:
CWS-ON requires the one-time winter mechanical management of non-native Phragmites, through the mowing or rolling of up to 250 ha of dead standing stalks at two National Wildlife Areas. Treatment will occur between November 1, 2020 and March 15, 2021. The final data and report will be submitted by March 31, 2021.
